A stand alone building for a premium luxury brand in the heart of the city. It was conceived as a large show-window – allowing for the activities within the building to animate the facade. The periphery of each level is dedicated to circulation and display with the center housing the sales points. The building had very specific needs in terms of security and shading. A metal mesh screen was conceived as a response to this need. Inspired by many ad-hoc solutions seen in the city the long history of temporary fabric canopies and screens used in city life – the weave of the mesh would vary in intricacy in response to the requirement for shading. The building appears as a reflective solid during the day and in the night reverses when lit into a transparent stack of retail floor plates.
